My oh My I've been gone too long

Wow, I had no Idea that it had been that long since I last posted here. Guess I have been too wrapped up in my daily life. Taking care of my dear friend with cancer and then the new puppy that has grown so much. You aren't going to believe how much he's grown so I better show you.
Isn't he just a cuddle bug. We have had so much fun with this little guy. Baxter and Phoebe get along so well. I could't have picked a better match.

I haven't been able to do too much in the garden yet since Mother nature hasn't been very cooperative. I did get new stawbales and got them transplanted with my strawberries but thats about the extent of it.

I have been working on a new punch needle for another sewing basket.

Well, better go get some breakfast going for the hubby.
I promise not to stay away so long again

Memorial to Rufus

As many of you know I am an avid animal lover and just lost my William Wallace last mothers day. Well, we have a new kid in our family named Baxter that is growing like a weed. Him and Phoebe get along famously and couldn't be closer if they were related.
How ever this posting is for a very dear and special little guy that I have grown to love and adore across the miles. His name is Rufus. He and his brother Buddy were dropped off on the property of a fellow FB friend Named Lana.

I have just adored Rufus from the start as he reminded be in spirit of my dear William Wallace that I so recently lost. He just crept into my heart from the start.
Last night he was hit and killed by a car and was gone before they could even reach him. So fortunately he didn't suffer but I am just beside myself and my heart is breaking all over again.
Phoebe is so good at picking up on these things and has been trying to comfort me in her own way with toys and paws in my lap. It's funny how they can pick up on those sort of things. I know that Rufus wasn't mine but in my heart he belong to me. I am going to miss him terrible and the tears are flowing freely once again. I take comfort in knowing that he and Wallace are up there playing and running and waiting for us to cross that Rainbow Bridge so we can all take comfort in each others love again.

Rufus, we are going to miss you. Big hugs go out to Buddy and to Lana who I am sure is suffering from the loss too.

I am such a lucky lady today

Happy Saint Patrick's Day to All

I am feeling the luck and love of the Irish today. My dearest friend just gave me her old couch and chair as she is getting a new one. The couch isn't really old at all but it is exactly my style and what I would have picked out if I were to go and buy one. I love it and feel truly blessed with her gift.

She is such a giving lady and I feel so lucky to have her in my life. I have never had a friend like her and her dear daughter and I hold their friendship in my heart and like I say I am truly blessed. Not by what they give me but by there unconditional friendship.

Also, I want to share, that Phoebe and Baxter now have there own special FB page. Yep, just click here and it will take you there. https://www.facebook.com/PhoebeAndBaxter
It just seemed like most of my postings on FB were of Phoebe and Baxter so I thought that I should just get them there own special page.

Well, as if God heard my pleas for some sunshine, it is gorgeous outside today. What a better way to celebrate Saint Patricks Day. Hope your day is as truly blessed as mine is.

Friends, Family and sunshine what more could I ask for?

Dog Day Afternoon

Yep, another day at the Mackay homestead. My agenda for the day is, Let the dogs out, let the dogs in, let the dogs out, let the dogs in, and in between each entrance is a 8 foot wipe. What it boils down to till the summer time is wiping 56 little feet a day. Geez... forgot about all that. hehehe

Dad just loves the new kid too .
Phoebe gets to go to the doctor tomorrow. I think she is going to get a poke in the hiney too. Baxter is saying nanner nanner nanner, now its your turn. heeheh

Today is play day too cause Mom is hemming drapes for a friend and she won't let us help. She such a spoiled sport. We would love to help.
Oh well, we'll just have to entertain ourselves.

Okay now its nappy poo time.

Well, as you can see that most of my leisure time is taken up by the new kid on the block but it is such great therapy for a broken heart. We lost our Wallace in May and I think that my heart was aching for a long time. It is smiling again and I feel like our lives are complete again.

Have a Dog day Afternoon everyone. We are.

We got a new toy and I got stuck in the butt

Yep, went to see the doctor today for second dose of puppy shots and worming. He was pinned to the table by the assistant and he started screaming, literally like he was being beat and all they were going to do was trim his toenails. Baxter preceded to wee all over his self and was not a happy camper. I don't feel that was necessary as I trim them when he is resting on my lap with no problem but he felt that it was necessary to show who was alpha. Not sure I agree with all that. I would rather it be an enjoyable experience.
Anyway, I felt guilty so I bought him a big honking pig that sounds like an Uga horn when you squeeze it. The two of them love it. I also bought a hedgehog that is a little less annoying but is hairy and gets slimy too quickly as they are playing with it.
My momma loves us, she love us, she gets down on her knees and hugs us, she loves us like a rock well,  at least a honkin pig. heheh
How could you not love these sweet two little kids?

Newest little mischief

Well, like all kids, you need to keep an eye on them all the time. In just a matter of a couple of minutes Baxter proceeded to grab my pin cushion and gave it a few good shakes. Straight pins went flying. ARKKKKK...... I grabbed him and Phoebe and threw them both in the kitchen and blocked it off while I proceeded to spend the next hour
and a half picking straight pins out of the carpet with the help of a good flash light and three goings over with the vacuum and then crawling on the pray
bones over every inch of floor making sure I didn't miss any. Keeping my
fingers crossed and shoes on for the next few weeks just to be sure.
Meanwhile Phoebe sat out on the front entry room waiting to tell Dad just what the kid did today. She is such a lady.

The baby has really kept me on my toes constantly moving are rearranging things that all of a sudden he finds that he can get into or chew on or something or other. I know he is getting taller as I just had to add blocks under the coffee table as he just puts his little feet up there and reaches for what ever he can get a hold of like my pin cushion.

Just another day in the life at the MacKay household.

A day in the life of two furry kids

Up at dawn and ready to rumble. heheh and rumble they do at 4:30 in the morning while I get the coffee going. They are sitting there asking wheres the beef and I keep explaining that breakfast is at 6:00 as they start to nibble my ankles. The sun comes out and out they go. We are suppose to have sunny days till Tuesday and boy I will gladly take them. I need to mow the lawn just to spruce the place up and keep the kids feet a little cleaner.

Awww... nap time for us all.

Super Bowl Winner of a Sandwich

I have to say that this is one of the most awesome flavor extravaganzas ever.
I have shown you all the ingredients but I will list them for you also.

I nice fresh loaf of Fococcia bread split in half.
After you split the loaf, butter both inside top and bottom and begin layering with lots of sliced garlic or make a garlic butter
 Havarti cheese
Be sure that you use Portabella mushrooms for the best flavor

 Fresh garlic, lots of it
Red Onion
                                                            Havarti and Fresh Basil
Prosciutto or you can go meatless, just as good

I haven't shown it but I prefer to saute the mushrooms in a little olive oil and a little balsamic vinegar
Fresh thinly sliced Mozzarella  cheese and some Parmesan cheese
Oil the top of the loaf with a little olive oil and sprinkle with garlic salt
Double wrap in foil and bake at 275 degrees for about 30 min or until the cheese is melted inside.

I then make a minestrone soup, Progresso or your choice to serve with the sandwiches.
Serve with a nice wine or fresh made lemonade.
Desert is KEY LIME PIE> YUM! ! !

Our newest addition

Yes we have a new addition to the family. Let me introduce Baxter the Puggle. His dad is a pure Bred Pug and his mommy is a Pug and Beagle mix. Now how could you resist a face like this. Baxter and Phoebe have hit it off famously. She treats him like her baby which she never had any. She lays down and rolls over so he can nurse. Now that is love. I worried for a will as I brought Baxter over to meet Phoebe and she just drooled like a faucet and her eyes were wild like but her tail was wagging .                                                            I took that as a good sign. Their first day together went great. She just loves him and she keeps a constant eye on him. What a great Mommy she would have been. Dad loves her too. Can you tell? He is just an old softee. No doubt about that. heheh

We thinks he's a keeper. What do you think. I am talking about Baxter but Dad's a keeper too. Gotta love em.

                  Time to take a nap

Folk Magazine.

Be sure to check out this awesome magazine. My subscription is about to run out but with any luck I could win a free years subscription. If not I won't hesitate to subscribe again.

I have been busy working on my New Years sampler. It has been a real challenge since I sort of forgot how to CS since I have been doing all these other needle work projects but I am finally getting back in the groove heheh so to speak. I will post a pick when I get a little further along. I am also finishing up a Swedish Weave Afghan for a friend.
I also want to get started on another punch needle and I have a rug hooking to do. WHAT, you think I am getting myself in trouble. Awwww.... one thing at a time gets boring so if I have several going , I can switch off or just go from one project to another.
Hope everyone is having a great year so far. We are almost to the end of the first week of 2012, can you believe it???
Stop by for a chat and let me know you were here.

Happy New Year My Dear Friends

Well, It seems that another year has passed and I just don't even know when it all happened. I mean it seems like I was just decorating the tree last year and now I have put it away again for this year.
Tomorrow I January 1,2012. This is the last year we will ever have a triple digit year. Yep 12/12/12. They say that is the end of the Mayan Calendar. Well, I guess that we will just have to live our lifes like each day is the last and make every day a very special one. I try to do that every day already so I guess my life won't change that much.
I feel very blessed that I have made so many friend here and on FB and in my everyday life around me. How blessed we are to have one that care about what happens to us. There are so many out there that are so less fortunate that just live each day to exist not knowing that there is anyone that cares whether they live or not. Lest they not forget that there is always someone that loves them. There is always someone looking down on them and even though they may feel forgotten there is someone that holds them near and dear to them in his heart and love all the homeless and less fortunate that need his love to survive. I pray that this new year will bring to them a since of caring and love and that they can find their way back into society so that they can begin to help their selves again.
As for me and my family, I pray that we are able to find a way to get close again and able to be a part of one happy family together if just for one day. I mentioned to another that I miss the ole days when families didn't feel the need to live across the country and that we all were closer to each other. I know that we have to go with the economy and even though we are all so far apart, we are still together in our hearts and in our thoughts. I just wish that we could just hug each other again someday soon.
Have a wonderful day and a wonderful New Year too.
